Popular Peak of the White Mt. Masters: Mt. Willard

Recently Erik Koeppel and I hiked to the top of Mt. Willard. We spent the afternoon drawing and just taking in the glory of this amazing view. The view from Mt. Willard has been famously painted by, William Sheridan Young , Frank H. Shapleigh, and  Benjamin Champney, among others. The View from Mt. Willard (also known as Artist’s Bluff, in the 19th century) beyond it’s fantastic view of Crawford Notch, also looks down on the Willey House site.

This summer has been a terrific season! Erik Koeppel and I taught two wonderful workshops , and this year’s  Hudson River Fellowship was centered  in our home in Jackson N.H.

Plain Air Convention in Red Rock Canyon

Recently Erik Koeppel and I attended the first annual Plein Air Convention held in Las Vegas.  Hosted by Plein Air magazine , the event contained about 500 painters. Most of the outdoor painting was done just minutes from the convention in Red Rock Canyon. The convention was a blast , and it was also amazing for me to see America’s western landscape for the first time. Here are some images of some of the paintings on my trip:
